About Me

Glenda Obermuller

Solution-Oriented Community Organizer | Activist | People Connector

Guyanese-born and Germany-based, I am a passionate advocate for Black visibility, cultural heritage, and community empowerment. As a migrant with deep roots, my journey has been shaped by personal experiences of migration, racism, and the need for representation.

In the wake of global events like the 2020 murder of George Floyd, I co-founded the Theodor Wonja Michael Bibliothek—Germany's first dedicated Black library in Cologne—named after Theodor Wonja Michael, likely the country's first Black public civil servant.

I am also a co-founder of Sonnenblumen Community Development Group e.V. (SCDG), focused on community building and anti-racism, and N-Wort stoppen, an initiative to eliminate racial slurs and discrimination in society.

My work emphasizes solution-oriented activism: connecting people, curating knowledge, and empowering the next generation through public readings, discussions, and international collaborations.
